Delete your account

Last updated October 17, 2026

Draft. This page has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet and may change.

You can delete your FlexRoom account yourself, at any time. This page explains how, and what happens to your information.

How to delete your account

  • Log in, open My account, go to the bottom of the page and choose “Delete my account”. Type your password to confirm.
  • If you cannot log in, first use “Forgot your password?” on the log-in window. If that is not possible, write to support@flexroom.ca from the email address of the account, and we will delete it after checking that it is yours, within 30 days.
  • Team accounts are closed by an admin, not by the person themselves.

What is deleted

  • Right away: your account is closed. You can no longer log in, and your listings and roommate profile disappear from the site. Your email alerts stop.
  • For 30 days nothing else is deleted, in case you change your mind: write to support@flexroom.ca within those 30 days and we can open the account again.
  • After 30 days, for good: your name, email address and password, your profile, your listings and their photos, your roommate profile and its photo, your saved homes, your phone number, and your conversations and messages. A conversation disappears for the other person too.

What we keep

  • The record of any payment you made (the amount, the date and the payment provider’s reference). It has no name or email attached, and the law requires us to keep it for “[RETENTION PERIOD: TO BE CONFIRMED WITH A LAWYER, probably 6 years]”.
  • A line in our security log saying that an account was closed and deleted (the account’s number only, no name or email).
  • A safety record, kept 2 years after the deletion: your name and email, your support requests and our answers, reports you sent or that were made about you or your listings, notes our team wrote about the account, and any ban. It does not include your private messages or photos. It is used only for safety, disputes and legal requests, and only admins can open it. If the law or an ongoing investigation requires it, it is kept until that is over. “[TO BE CONFIRMED WITH A LAWYER.]”

Other companies

  • If you did the ID check, Stripe holds the ID photo and selfie under its own policy and its own retention period; we never had them. Ask Stripe directly to delete them.
  • Visit counts (PostHog) are not linked to your account.
  • Copies of our database kept as backups are overwritten within “[BACKUP PERIOD: TO BE CONFIRMED]”.
