Host handbook
How to list a room and find the right person.
Before you list
Make sure you are allowed to rent or share the place: check your lease and your local rules.
A good listing
Clear, well-lit photos of the actual room and shared spaces (at least one, up to 8, each at least 1,000 pixels on the long side). An honest price, what it includes, the date it is free and the house rules.
Review
Photos are checked automatically. If they all pass, your listing goes live straight away; otherwise our team reviews it and you see the result under Account › My listings.
Answering people
Reply inside the site. Listings show how quickly a host usually answers once there have been a few conversations, so quick replies help you.
Staying safe
Meet people before you agree to anything, and do not ask for money before a viewing: listings that do are removed.
When the room is taken
Archive the listing from your account. You can put it back up later; it is reviewed again first.
